March 13,2021 Such an honor to be joining Mike Owen and Donna for a slough survey we felt blessed to be invited for this unique opportunity to learn more about this special place. The Fakahatchee strand preserve is 85,000 acres the largest state park of Florida as well as the largest strand swamp in the world it has been our escape for couple of years and with Covid-19 even more so. Here are a couple of pictures from that day we learned a lot of from fuzzy wuzzies to sponges differences between orchids saw our first vanilla beans(bananas)Veerle found a ribbon orchid. Thank you so much Donna and Mike Owen for this unbelievable experience also met so many nice fellow swamp lovers this was a day to remember forever we both a very grateful.

We had the best 4th of July after 2 years swamp walking we finally found a blooming Ghost Orchid there are only about 21 blooming Ghost Orchids known to bloom in Fakahatchee strand swamp per year so to find one in 85000 acres felt super amazing and to make the day even more perfect we encountered our first Black bear in Florida unfortunately he was gone as soon as we got the camera but still snapped a cell phone picture.Canβt wait for Rudy to finish the editing the pictures of this beautiful Ghost so I can hang the best one on our wall.Click on pictures below to see fine art print of the Ghost Orchid.
